UCLA Speech PathologyThis clinic provides outpatient and inpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services for communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. Diagnostic categories include the following:

  • Cleft palate and other congenital structural deviations
  • Abnormal speech
  • Language and swallow development in children
  • Voice disorders
  • Acquired speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disorders (e.g., traumatice brain injury, aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia, laryngectomy, and glossectomy) and stuttering

Populations served range from infant to geriatric. Specialized services include:

  • Modified barium swallow study
  • Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing
  • Biofeedback for voice and swallowing disorders
  • Swallowing therapy for head and neck cancer patients and laryngectomy rehabilitation
